I sent a message to the SA Public Trustee letting them know that this poster would create confusion as to peoples obligations under family provision legislation. I also pointed out the pain and suffering this kind of misinformation creates. I think they missed my point ! Here is the response. "Thank you for your comments regarding the poster at our Victoria
Square office. I am very sorry that you were offended by the poster. It was certainly
not intended to be offensive but intended to be a light hearted way to raise
interest so people would start to think about making a will. The
poster is not part of a campaign but a one off poster that has been accepted
well by many.
Ultimately it is every person's right to leave their estate to whom ever they wish. I can assure you however that our staff spend considerable time talking to our clients about the repercussions of not making adequate provision for family in their will. This is all documented and retained with the will.
Again, thank you for taking the time to provide feedback and when we are at a point of replacing the poster your comments will be considered.
Yours faithfully" What do you think ? |
